Question on existence, picture of the sanctum
Park, Jun Hyeon (Art Theory)

Art is the ideal mirror for mankind to look beyond the rational reality. Art is not only most suitable for reconstructing the actuality and nature but also the unseen mystical world. It is the history of energy that was created through the clash of the two view points. These two perspectives, not in a particular order, embrace and repel appropriately and reveal a vision of the world. Cho, Mi Young's point of view or understanding of art is not the realization of the nature and its actuality but rather focuses on the unseen world, trust in the full purity and indescribable art, yet belief that it can be expressed. Her works will guide us to the unknown world and with it the mystical power to express it; Evidently, she is convinced that the whole, as if breathing together, will float freely together in the world.

As I mentioned earlier, the works of Cho, Mi Young, allow us to discover that which is something beyond reality, a path to a world of the ideal. Usually using the images of eggs and feathers personified, her works express a gentle and surreal feeling. Not using a developed technique to describe a subject but rather relying on the emotions of that which cannot be seen, a silence that imbues, and if one tries to grasp a feather that floats, it is as if it will fly that much farther away, leaving that much that cannot be grasped. Through this method, her works do not demand to say what is actuality nor what is art. It just reveals itself to us. Ultimately, it is an attempt to leave the world addicted with rational structure, experience, language, logic, aiming to manifest the mystical that cannot be brought out in reality.

Cho, Mi Young's works utilize traditional methods and materials of korean painting. Although using diverse materials is admirable in modern painting, her willingness to use only limited and often difficult traditional materials can be read as an attempt to get closer to the ideal world of her predecessors. The traditional attempt to understand the world through understanding oneself and expression of that mystical rapport through art.

Her works are similar to the magic or spell of older times, an action that is holy, a rapport with the spirit. A medium that brings together, to breathe together the inner world of mankind and at the same time the inner internal of the artist. In a way her outlook brings to mind a magician that alleviates the modern sicknesses through the spiritual and bringing out the potential lost emotions deeply imbedded within us all.
