비평글   name   password   title   contents >조미영 작품 전시회에 즈음하여... > >이 세상을 살면서 물질적 가치를 추구하는 사람은 많고 간혹 정신적 가치를 추구하며 살아가는 사람들을 만나게 된다. 누구에게나 물질은 필요한 것이지만 물질 외에는 가치가 없다고 믿고 사는 사람들의 삶은 답답하기 그지없다. > >작가 조미영을 만난 기쁨은 그가 순수한 한 인간으로, 한 예술인으로 보통 사람들은 상상도 못하는 희귀한 정신 세계의 가치를 추구하고 있기 때문이다. > >그의 주제가 “숨”인 것은 생명의 원천을 찾는 하나의 노력이라고 여겨진다. 호흡 없이 유지되는 생명은 없다. 살아있는 모든 것은 숨을 쉬지 않고는 그 생명 자체를 유지할 수가 없는 것이다. >작가 조미영이 묘사하는 “깃털”의 의미는 과연 무엇일까? >생명은 또한 깃털 없이는 그 생명을 이어나가기 어려운 것인데 “숨”은 인간의 눈에 보이지 않지만 우리는 깃털을 통해 현상의 세계를 보고 느낄 수 있다. 깃털은 생명의 본체는 아니지만 깃털 없이 존재하는 생명도 없기 때문에.... > >그는 살아있는 모든 것의 생명의 현상을 깃털에서 찾았다고 여겨진다. > >그 깃털의 정교한 아름다움, 그 깃털의 자유로움, 그런 뜻을 담아 조미영은 이번 전시회를 마련한 것이다. >그의 작품들을 통하여 우리는 생명의 근원이 무엇인지 다시금 생각해 보게 된다. 바로 거기에 생존의 아름다움이 깃 들어 있다고 믿어진다. > > > >김동길(연세대 명예교수) > > >Invitation Letter > > >Regarding the Exhibition Works of Cho Mi Young. > >There are many people who live in this world in pursuit of material gains, but once in a while one encounters those that pursue the spiritual values. Even if everyone needs material things, people who believe that only material things have a value live a suffocating life. > >Thus, the pleasure of meeting artist, Cho Mi Young, originates from the fact that she has a pure and humble mind and strives for the rare spiritual values unimaginable to any ordinary people in this contemporary world. The theme of this exhibition as [su:m] (breath) is considered as an effort to explore the origin and source of a life. No lives can survive without breathing. All lives must continue to respire to life to carry on. > >Then, what is meant by the 'feathers' portrayed by Cho Mi Young? > >A life cannot maintain itself without feathers protecting the life. Even if we cannot see the [su:m] (breath), we can see and feel the phenomenal world through the feathers thereof. The reason is because even if the feathers are not the essential part of a life, no life can exist without the feathers protecting it. She seems to have found phenomena of all the lives from the feathers. > >She has prepared this exhibition works to describe the exquisite beauty, the freedom of the feathers and to convey the above theme. Through her works, we can think again about the origin and source of life.
